Message From the Regional Coordinator

Welcome to the Fall 2005 edition of the FLC Northeast News. Our region is very active in all phases of technology transfer—from the laboratory to the marketplace—and the articles in this issue present a glimpse into the scope of our involvement.

The past few months have been quite busy for the Northeast Region, with many technology transfer projects and activities taking place. In particular, our 2005 regional meeting in Albany was a great success. Read more

FAA Researchers Earn Patent for Cargo Fire Safety Test Method

Two fire safety researchers at the FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center recently received a U.S. patent for an invention that will provide earlier detection of fires in aircraft cargo holds. Read more

FAA Launches Cooperative Agreement to Automate Financial Disclosure Form Process

The Federal Aviation Administration has a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement with HRWorX, LLC, of Herndon, Virginia, a privately held software development company, that could revolutionize the federal Financial Disclosure Report form process. Read more

Regional Meeting Draws Crowd

Attendees of the 2005 FLC NE regional meeting listen to a presentation at Benet Laboratories in Watervliet, N.Y. The meeting was marked by three days of workshops and networking sessions drawing technology transfer professionals from all over the country. Read more about the meeting

2005 Northeast Regional Award Winners Honored

The Northeast Region recently presented its annual awards honoring individuals and laboratories for outstanding achievements in technology transfer.

Volpe Center Deploys Air Traffic Management Software for FAA

On June 6, the Volpe Center completed operational deployment of ETMS 8.0. The Enhanced Traffic Management System is a mission-essential system used by the Federal Aviation Administration to support its Traffic Flow Management system.

Picatinny Employees to Receive Army’s Top Research Award

Twenty-two Picatinny Arsenal scientists and engineers have won the Army’s top award for research and development. The Army Research and Development Achievement Award is presented to a select group of scientists and engineers whose outstanding achievements have significantly advanced capabilities and contributed to the national defense. The Picatinny awardees represent seven different R&D programs. Read more

FLC 2006 National Meeting Update

Be sure to mark your calendars for May 1-4, 2006, to attend the technology transfer event of the year. The FLC invites you to Minneapolis to attend the 32^nd annual meeting, themed “From Innovation to Enterprise.” Co-hosted with the Department of Energy’s Technology Partnerships Working Group, the meeting will feature technology transfer successes and benefits, and the exchange of new information on the process of technology transfer. AFRL Research Enhances Network Security

The Air Force Research Laboratory, in collaboration with 21st Century Technologies Inc. and Air Intelligence Agency (AIA), has developed a unique product called NETWAR to detect anomalous network activity. This collaboration was made possible through the Air Force Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) program. Read more
