The Northeast Region held its 2006 annual meeting September 18-20 in Rome, New York. This year’s meeting kicked off with a welcome reception at the Matt Brewery in nearby Utica. A highlight of the reception was a tour of the brewery, which produces Saranac Beer among other labels. The Air Force Research Laboratory was the setting for day two of the meeting, where Acting Regional Coordinator Lew Meixler welcomed attendees. Morning presentations covered a wide variety of topics such as assessing the worth of technologies, licensing options, and overviews of local facilities that are active in bringing technologies to the market. Presenters included James Millar of Battelle Ventures, Tim Wittig of Technology Management Advisors/SAIC, and Marci Meixler of Cornell University Center for the Environment. The afternoon’s activities shifted outdoors as attendees visited the Newport Test Facility, which included a tour of an F-22 jet. Day two concluded with a networking social at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino, known internationally for its gaming, entertainment, and dining.

The highlights of the third and final day of the meeting included an awards ceremony honoring the recipients of the 2006 Northeast regional awards, and the formal introduction of Dr. Theresa Baus, of Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division-Newport, as the new Northeast Regional Coordinator.
